Welcome back to another installment of the Blazy Blog! In our last article, we talked about smoking etiquette. While that one was more of an intro to overall smoking etiquette, we have some tips on dabbing etiquette in this installment for the Blazy dabbers out there. Dabbing is a newer thing in general, and there aren’t necessarily as many unwritten rules when it comes to a dab sesh, but here’s a few tips you may want to keep in mind anyway.
Dabbing has a few more safety concerns than a normal smoke sesh will. Keep in mind that a dab nail will still be SUPER hot for a while after you take a dab, so make sure to be careful about grabbing the nail. Those things will leave a serious burn if you aren’t careful. You also want to make sure that you have a clean and tidy dabbing area with nothing flammable near your rig or torch.
Clean Dab Rig
Keeping your dab rig clean is one of the most important things you can do to ensure a quality dab session. No one likes hitting a nasty rig – especially if they’re bringing quality concentrates along to the party. That’s like being served a $50 steak on a dirty plate. Make sure you clean your dab rig regularly so that you don’t let it get too gross. The longer you go without cleaning it, the harder it will be to get super clean.
Low and Slow
One of the other things you can do to quickly ruin a dab is getting your nail too hot. Hot dabs make for a harsh and generally unenjoyable dab experience. “Low temp” dabs are considered to be preferable. While actual temperatures may vary a bit based on personal preference and on what you’re dabbing, roughly 315-450 fahrenheit is generally considered an ideal temperature range. You can measure this with a laser thermometer to be precise.
Keep it Organized
If you’ve been following us for a while, you already know Blazy Susan is all about organization. When it comes to dab sessions, we feel the same way – organization is key! The Blazy Susan Dab Essentials Bundle is something you might want to consider picking up to tidy up your dab setup. It includes a silicone Dab Station to hold all of your dabbing accoutrement, as well as a few other dab accessories to make your sesh perfect.
A dead torch can instantly put a damper on an otherwise perfect dab out. Keep a few extra cans of butane on deck, or switch to an E-nail if you want to avoid this all together (this is also a great way to make sure you’re getting the temperature that you want).
That’s about it! Follow these guidelines and you’ll be the don of dabs at your next smoke out. Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments, and tag us in pics of your dab set up at @blazysusan on IG!
